Imtiaz Ali's film Amar Singh Chamkila has opened to a thunderous response from critics and audiences alike. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles. While Diljit essays the titular role, Parineeti is seen as his on-screen wife Amarjot Kaur. Based on the life of the late legendary singer Amar Singh Chamkila, the film was released on Netflix on April 12. For the Imtiaz Ali directorial, Diljit and Parineeti recreated Amar Singh and Amarjot's real-life moments.

Netflix shared a series of photos which show the real-life moments of Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kau recreated by Diljit and Parineeti for the screen. The caption to this Instagram post read, "Every frame in Chamkila shines with Imtiaz Ali and Co's pyaar and passion for his true story Amar Singh Chamkila, now streaming only on Netflix! (sic)."

Earlier, Parineeti Chopra also shared some photos that were recreated for Imtiaz Ali's film, released on OTT. "Diljit and I had the privilege of playing the role of two legends who changed the music landscape in India… recreating their famous images in the film and seeing them again today gives me goosebumps. Cannot wait to share the world of Chamkila with everyone," wrote Parineeti.

When Imtiaz Ali was unsure of casting Diljit Dosanjh in Amar Singh Chamkila

Before the film's release, Imtiaz Ali made a surprising revelation about his movie. The filmmaker revealed that he was initially unsure of casting Diljit Dosanjh in Amar Singh Chamkila. "I thought he might not be able to do it, etc. So I didn’t approach him in the beginning, but it’s a little later that I did, the moment I spoke to him, it was just like a different chapter," he told Pinkvilla.
